Introduction
Hello & Assalamualaikum ! My name is Izzaf Akmal Bin Abdullah. People call me by my name, Izzaf but you can also call me Iyzz ! I am currently an 18-year-old student in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Puncak Perdana. I live in Kuala Kangsar, Perak but I was born in Selangor.

The first time as an OFFICIAL UiTM student was hectic! But hey, you've just enter your university life, right? You'll get used to it. I'm not the type of person that always starts a conversation, but to make friends, you must be a little bit extrovert. I am so grateful that people here are so friendly and funny. My first impression on my campus was like, not bad... until you found out that it's much more better when you explore more. The first week was a HECTIC one. We had a programme called Minggu Destini Siswa (MDS) where we were exposed to our campus and anything related to it.
Overall, things are pretty smooth here, and I'm quite happy here ! Although there's so many assignments (and I'm a procastinator, that's a BAD combination), I'm still able to adapt here. Who knows, I might love it here.
Courses
For my first semester, here's the list of the courses I've registered :
- FFA111 - FIGURE DRAWING
- FFA112 - ILLUSTRATION OF ANIMATION
- FFA113 - FUNDAMENTALS OF DESIGN
- FFA114 - ANIMATION HISTORY AND TECHNOLOGY
- FTA111 - ART HISTORY
- UED102 - STUDY SKILLS
- CTU101 - FUNDAMENTALS OF ISLAM
- HBU111 - NATIONAL KESATRIA I
- LCC111 - ENGLISH FOR COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE I
(I got course exclusion for this one because I passed EPT, an English Placement Test)
FFA111 - FIGURE DRAWING
The name says it all, you'll be drawing figures ! This class teaches you to draw and understand the life anatomy, mainly humans, which includes body type, skeletal anatomy, et cetera. This class completely covers in forming splendid anatomy and enhancing your drawing skills in creating a character.
For the first class, my lecturer taught me how to use draw human anatomy correctly, there are eight (8) sections:
- Head
- Neck
- Upper Torso
- Lower Torso
- Pelvis
- Upper Leg
- Lower Leg
- Feet
Here, I inserted a picture so you can understand clearly ;)
There's various of method in drawing human anatomy. There's this one method called the "Bean Method", where you draw a bean-like shape which eventually, and surprisingly assist you in drawing anatomies. You can try searching it on Google, Pinterest or any platform that suits you.
Before this, I always have trouble drawing people's body, it's either the legs shorter than the body or vice versa, resulting a dwarf-like character. Ever since I attended this class, I can now draw characters with balanced height and not worrying about 'disability-ing' my characters. This is a major change for me because my lack of not understanding the basic human anatomy at first. I am very confident in drawing bodies ! Not to mention how pretty and handsome my characters are (I'm being delusional and it's fine to like your drawings hehe). In other words, this class holds the main properties and basics of drawing figures to make sure your character to be adored by others.
FFA112 - ILLUSTRATION ON ANIMATION
This class is one of my favorite. It focuses on us brainstorming ideas and explore different art styles so
that we can expand our own illustration of characters. Drawing the same style can be quite boring so this is the perfect opportunity for you to increase your skills and enhance your ideas !
The picture on the upper left is my character drawn in various art styles. Some of them you might know, such as Omori style, Steven Universe and my utmost favorite, No Straight Road (NSR) style. Out of all styles, my lecturer pick the best art (the check symbol on top), and ask to create another three or four of the same art style.
The picture on the upper right is the finished character drawn by the same art style asked. Not going to lie, I'm quite proud of my artwork because it really helps me focus on my characters' details and anatomy. I'm a speedy artist, by means I usually draw my art in the fastest way possible so I don't pay much attention to details and background. Moreover, my art is getting better since. Here's another artwork I made for my assignment:
Honest opinion, this is my first time drawing something so serious like this. :P
Conclusion
To the end of this post, I have fun learning here. It's very much likely to be enjoyable and free than I anticipated. I'm glad to start off a happy university life, and will do my best here !
In class (mostly all classes), you don't have to worry about mistakes. Just try and keep drawing until you feel proud of your work (be confident bro, it doesn't hurt you). For instance, our lecturer says it's common to use references to help with your project. It doesn't have to be perfect 100%, but be confident in what you draw so that you can do better !
That's it from me, Izzaf .
THANK YOU FOR READING !!!
